Job Description

 

The Senior Programme Officer (Agricultural Development) is an important position within APWDO. The incumbent will lead the programme design, development, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting functions of the organization. The incumbent will also serve as the lead person for the design, implementation and overall oversight of the projects developed by and/or implemented on behalf of donors.

The incumbent will also serve as the lead for all business development, communication and partnerships building functions of the organization. The incumbent will help develop business development, program management, communication and strategic management frameworks, strategies and systems aimed at organizational growth, productivity, effectiveness and sustainability.

The Senior Programme Officer (Agricultural Development) is an important position within APWDO. Job Requirements

Required Educational Background and Work Experience for the post

The incumbent MUST have a Master’s Degree in Agriculture (preferably horticulture) from a credible institution, with at least five to seven years of progressive experience with international organizations in the relevant field. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with eight to ten years of experience will also be considered for short-listing.

Required Competencies, Skills and Personal Traits for the Post

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, Pashto and Dari
  • Profound understanding of the existing context, operating environment, donor priorities, and communities needs
  • In-depth understanding programme management and project management cycles
  • Strong abilities and experience with developing relevant projects and programmes in the areas of agriculture, horticulture, food security and other related areas
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Must be highly motivated and be able to take initiatives with minimum supervision by the senior leadership
