Job Summary:

The regional coordinator is responsible to oversee and provide technical support to regional staff on health and nutrition projects. In addition, the incumbent will support the regional manager in implementation, budget utilization with accordance to the donor approved work plan and budget to achieve the target goal of the project. He/ She will also coordinate the project activities with the partners including the PPHDs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to regional health team on implementation of project activities including mental health and psychosocial, COVID-19 and nutrition are being implementing as per the approved work plan.
  • Track the progress against the agreed work plan and ensure the budget utilization according to the allocated budget.
  • Follow implementation of the project activities including health promotion, mental health, COVID-19 and nutrition activities with provincial health teams in Bamyan, Parwan and Daikundi provinces.
  • To conduct supportive supervisions to all targeted districts for ensuring the project proper implementation.
  • To develop monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports of the project on timely bases in close coordination of regional manager.
  • Produce quality programmatic reports based on donor requirements and as per national office MIS requirements to ensure effective data management.
  • Contribute to the process for developing project annual plan, implementation schedule and yearly plan of operation (YPO) for the projects implement by health team.
  • Support regional teams in developing of annual, monthly, and weekly work plans for proper implementation of the project.
  • To manage arrangement of all required trainings and capacity building programs to the project staff and stakeholders within the regional level.
  • Increase the projects staff capacity through supervision, workshops, trainings, and regular consultation for improved performance and achieving better results and targeted outputs and outcomes of the projects.
  • Ensure that proper Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material is available and distributed on time.
  • Keep proper filing system of the project document both hard and soft.
  • Support regional Health Manager in identifying areas for innovation and improvement through new concept notes, proposals, and strategic plans.
  • Work closely with other AKF sectors in identifying areas for collaboration and program integration that help utilizing program budget efficiently and address stakeholders’ expectations with minimal resources.
  • Arrange regular coordination meetings with regional health team, AKF’s relevant sectors and AKDN sister agencies, record the minutes and follow progress of the action items.
  • Comply with AKF policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Respect the target communities’ cultures, traditions, and costumes.
  • To carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKF’s commitment to protecting children in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct capacity building sessions on health promotion, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial to technical staff when required.
  • Maintain a good organizational working relationship within the departments and other AKFA’s sectors.
  • Maintain close working relationship with provincial health team, relevant sectors and AKDN sister agencies.

 

 

 

 

 




 

 

 

 

DECISION-MAKING & AUTHORITY

  • Responsible for delegation of all Health & Nutrition related tasks at the regional level.
  • Provide the feedbacks to the projects related staff and regular follow up for improvement in the project’s implementation.
  • Manage and conduct district Health staff performance review/ appraisal.
  • Verify all health projects related expenditures’ documents for Regional Manager’s approval.

Job Requirement:

  • Medical doctor (MD) Degree from a reputable university, master’s degree in public health/nutrition is preferred.
  • At least four years relevant experience in health & nutrition’s projects; particularly in health promotion, nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial programs.
  • Excellent English competency in written and verbal skills.
  • Strong Communication, report writing, Problem Solving, Teamwork, and Management Skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to frequent travel to the field.
