Job Summary:

Objectives of the Position

Operating the VHF and HF radios, in accordance with the MSF security protocols and rules, in order to ensure quality and confidential radio communications for the operational needs of the mission/projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Operating the HF and VHF radios following the MSF security rules and communications policy.

– Ensures radio frequencies’ (HF and VHF) quality and transmission capacity. Installs and programs frequencies in all type of radios when necessary

– Monitoring and registering any movement, of people, vehicles, helicopters, airplanes and cargo, (departure, arrival, number of passengers, route taken, standard contact points) and informs line manager of any delays.

– Installing, operating and performing preventive maintenance checks on assigned equipment, checking that the equipment is working properly and immediately informing the line manager of any damage/loss/theft. Providing basic radio training when necessary to MSF staff

– Attending to the airport arrival of passengers when needed and necessary and as per project needs.

Job Requirement:

Education

– Literacy essential

– Secondary education desirable

Experience

– Work experience as a radio operator or similar job essential

– NGO experience essential

– MSF experience is desirable

Languages

– Dari/Pashtu: oral and written essential

– English: oral and written essential

Others

– Extensive knowledge of Mazar-e-Sharif / Balkh province is essential, therefore candidates from the area will be prioritized.

Working hours

– FULL TIME / SCHEDULE: 176 HOURS PER MONTH – DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE POSITION THE CANDIDATE MUST BE WILLING AND CAPABLE OF SOMETIMES WORKING OUTSIDE REGULAR OFFICE HOURS

– SALARY WILL BE PAID ACCORDING TO THE MSF SALARY GRID
